The First Child Ep. 4

The one week James had given Emily passed quickly. Each day he watched her, waiting to see if she would change her mind. But Emily held her ground. She fed the baby, cleaned the house, and went about her duties, but she never once mentioned the hospital. On the seventh day, James sat in the living room while Emily bathed the baby. When she came out, holding the child wrapped in a soft towel, James cleared his throat. “Emily,” he began quietly, “I gave you one week. That week has ended. Are you ready now to take this child to the hospital?” Emily did not answer immediately. She carried the baby to the bedroom, dressed him, and then returned to the sitting room. James was still waiting. “Emily, I am talking to you,” he said firmly. She sighed. “James, how many times will I say it? I am not going anywhere. Stop pressing me. I will not do any DNA test. I will not do any hospital test. You are the father of this child, and that is final.” James leaned forward, trying to remain calm. “If I a...

Pregnant Before Wedding Day Ep. 10

Lily stayed indoors for many days, unable to eat well or smile. Her heart was troubled and pained. She thought getting back into Mekus’s life would be easy. She imagined that once he heard she was carrying his baby, he would open his arms and hold her close again. She thought the news would melt his heart and make him forget the past. But the reality was far from that. Mekus had sent her away without mercy. The rejection cut her deeply. Every morning, she woke up hoping it was all just a bad dream, but it wasn’t.

She would sit on her bed, sad and lost in her thoughts. Tears would gather in her eyes without warning. The shame of being rejected by both John and Mekus weighed her down. She thought of removing the baby, but her heart wouldn’t allow it. Deep inside, she wanted to be a mother. She placed her hands on her belly and felt a strange mix of fear and love. That night, she made a decision to visit John again. She believed maybe he could help her fix what was broken with Mekus.

The next day, Lily went to John’s house and explained everything. She told him, “Mekus has rejected the pregnancy. He doesn’t believe it’s his. He chased me out like I was nothing.” Her voice shook, and her eyes pleaded with him. “Please, John, I need your help. Come with me to his house. Maybe if you speak to him, he will listen.” John looked at her for a long time, then finally nodded. “Alright. We will go together,” he said. They agreed on a date. Lily felt a small spark of hope, but her heart still trembled.

That night, Lily could not sleep. She kept turning from side to side, thinking of how the meeting with Mekus would go. She was scared of another rejection, but she wanted to try. The following day, her restlessness grew. She decided she couldn’t wait for the agreed date with John. She wanted to speak to Mekus on her own first. Maybe if she reached his heart before John came along, things would be easier. She took her phone, searched for his workplace, and set out to find him.

When she reached the place, she saw him busy, speaking with some customers. She stood at a corner, waiting patiently. Her mind was filled with thoughts of the past. When he finally noticed her, his face changed slightly, but he didn’t chase her away immediately. She walked closer and greeted him. “Mekus, please, can we talk?” she asked softly. He hesitated, then nodded, leading her to a quiet corner. She took a deep breath and began to remind him of their old days together.

“Mekus,” she said, tearfully. Do you remember when you had nothing? I was there. I helped you pay your bills. I stood by you when you were just a taxi driver. I never looked down on you. I believed in you when others didn’t. I was there when you needed someone.” Her voice broke as she spoke. She hoped her words would open a door in his heart. She watched him closely, looking for any sign that he might forgive her.

Mekus listened quietly with his arms folded. After a moment, he sighed. “Lily, I will not lie. You were there for me. You helped me in so many ways, and I will always appreciate that. But you changed. The day you left me for another man, something inside me broke. You made me feel I wasn’t good enough, and that pain stayed with me for a long time. Now you want to come back with a pregnancy, I know it's not mine. I can’t accept that.” He said.

Lily reached out to touch his hand, but he stepped back. “Please, Mekus, I made mistakes. I regret everything I did to hurt you. Just give me another chance. I am carrying your child. This baby needs you,” she pleaded, her tears flowing freely now. Mekus shook his head slowly. “Lily, the truth is, I don’t trust you anymore. You’ve already shown me what you can do when someone better comes along. I won’t put myself through that pain again.” His words made her feel like the ground was giving way beneath her feet.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. The only sound was Lily’s quiet sobbing. She could feel people walking past, but in that moment, it felt like the world had shrunk to just the two of them. Mekus finally looked away and said, “I think it’s best if you leave now.” Those words were like a final nail in the coffin of her hope. She nodded weakly, wiping her face with the back of her hand. Without another word, she turned and began to walk away slowly with tears.

By the time she reached the main road, Lily could no longer hold back her crying. She stopped and covered her face with her hands. People glanced at her but kept moving. She felt alone in the world, with no one to hold on to. The baby inside her was the only thing keeping her from giving up completely. She knew she had reached a point where only God could help her. As she wiped her tears, she whispered to herself, “I will not give up. Somehow, I will find a way to convince Mekus."

The First Child Ep. 3

James woke up early on Monday morning. He had been thinking all night. Emily’s refusal to do a DNA test had left him restless. He could not focus at work, and every time he looked at the baby, the doubt grew stronger. By 9am, he drove to the hospital alone. He didn’t take the baby with him because he wanted to first ask some questions before deciding on the next step. When he arrived, he went to the reception and asked to speak with a doctor. A few minutes later, he was shown into a small office. The doctor, a middle-aged man with glasses, greeted him warmly. “Good morning, Mr. James. How can I help you today?” James sat down and leaned forward. “Doctor, I have an unusual question. Is it possible for two white parents to give birth to a black baby?” The doctor looked thoughtful. “It is possible, but it is very rare. In some cases, the child may have inherited certain genes from past generations. In other rare cases, it could be a medical condition affecting the skin.” James nodded slow...

Pregnant Before Wedding Day Ep. 4

Lily arrived at Dr. John’s house just before sunset. The streets were quiet, and the air was soft with the smell of the evening breeze. She carried a small bag in one hand and used the spare keys he had given her to unlock the door. Inside, the apartment felt warm and familiar. She walked to the kitchen without removing her shoes, already thinking of the meal she was about to prepare. It had to be perfect—his favorite food, made with care. She believed that tonight could change everything for her. She moved through the kitchen slowly, setting out the ingredients and humming softly. The sound of the knife against the cutting board filled the room. As she stirred the pot, steam curled into the air, carrying the rich smell of spices. She imagined the smile on Dr. John’s face when he walked in and saw her effort. The table was set neatly at the dining area, plates and glasses lined up as if they were expecting important guests. By the time she finished cooking, the apartment smelled like c...

The First Child Ep. 2

Emily is distraught. She was in her room with her baby. James’s words from the night before kept echoing in her head. "We must have a DNA test. I don’t want to raise another man’s child." Her husband had said. She had told herself over and over again that morning that she would not do it. No matter how much James insisted, she was not going to any hospital for a DNA test. She was tired, weak, and still recovering from childbirth. She also felt insulted that her own husband would accuse her of cheating. When James returned from work that evening, she was ready with her answer. “James,” she said as he entered the room, “I am not doing any DNA test. I am not going anywhere.” James stopped in the middle of the room. “What did you just say?” “You heard me. I am not following you to any hospital. I will not do it.” His eyes were fixed on her. “So you are hiding something. That explains it.” Emily frowned. “I am not hiding anything. I just will not subject myself to this insult.” Ja...
