The First Child Ep. 4

The one week James had given Emily passed quickly. Each day he watched her, waiting to see if she would change her mind. But Emily held her ground. She fed the baby, cleaned the house, and went about her duties, but she never once mentioned the hospital. On the seventh day, James sat in the living room while Emily bathed the baby. When she came out, holding the child wrapped in a soft towel, James cleared his throat. “Emily,” he began quietly, “I gave you one week. That week has ended. Are you ready now to take this child to the hospital?” Emily did not answer immediately. She carried the baby to the bedroom, dressed him, and then returned to the sitting room. James was still waiting. “Emily, I am talking to you,” he said firmly. She sighed. “James, how many times will I say it? I am not going anywhere. Stop pressing me. I will not do any DNA test. I will not do any hospital test. You are the father of this child, and that is final.” James leaned forward, trying to remain calm. “If I a...

Pregnant Before Wedding Day Ep. 2

Lily was alone in her living room. She was thinking about the pregnancy test. The two red lines on the stick had changed everything. But instead of panicking, she made a decision. She was going to pin the pregnancy on Dr. John. He was wealthy, respected, and ready to marry her. “This is the best option,” she told herself. “With Dr. John, I will have a good life. If I stick with Mekus, I might suffer forever.” She convinced herself that it was for the best. She would keep the baby but tell everyone it was Dr. John’s.

She knew it wouldn’t be easy, but she had to act smart. The first step was to officially break up with Mekus. He deserved that at least. She didn’t want him suddenly showing up one day and ruining her plans. That evening, Lily wore a simple black gown and ordered a taxi to Mekus’s apartment. As the car moved through the streets of Atlanta, her heart beat a little faster. “Just say what you have to say and leave,” she whispered to herself. She had already made up her mind. There was no going back.

When she arrived at the apartment, Mekus was at home. He had just returned from work. The moment he saw her at the door, his face lit up. “Lily? Oh my God! You’re here?” he said, rushing to hug her. She stood still. “It’s been weeks. I’ve missed you. I thought something was wrong,” he added. But Lily didn’t respond to the hug. She walked past him and sat on the edge of the couch. Mekus could feel something was off. “Is everything okay?” he asked, looking confused.

“I came here to talk,” Lily began quietly. “There’s something you need to know, Mekus.” He sat across from her, paying close attention. “I’ve met someone else. His name is Dr. John. He’s rich, responsible, and ready to marry me. He proposed, and I said yes. I’m sorry, but I can’t be with you anymore.” The words hit Mekus like a thunderbolt. His lips shook. “You’re leaving me?” he asked. “Just like that? After everything?” His voice cracked as he stood up and began pacing the room. Lily didn’t say a word. She just watched him.

Mekus turned to her with watery eyes. “Lily, please don’t do this. I know I’m not rich. I know I’ve been struggling. But I love you with everything I have. We’ve been together for three years. We’ve shared dreams, plans—why are you throwing that away?” He wiped his face and knelt in front of her. “Please, don’t leave me. Give me time. I’ll work harder. Things will get better. I promise.” But Lily stood up and moved away from him. Her voice was firm. “I don’t want to struggle anymore. I’m tired of paying your bills. I need money. I need financial security.”

“I’ve carried this relationship on my back for too long,” she continued. “I paid your rent. I bought your clothes. I filled your car with gas. I need a man who can do those things for me. I deserve more than this.” Mekus was speechless. He sat back on the couch, crushed and broken. His heart felt like it was falling apart. “So that’s it?” he asked. “Because I’m poor?” Lily nodded. “Yes. I’m sorry. This is goodbye.” Without waiting for a response, she picked up her bag and walked out of the apartment, leaving Mekus in tears.

As the taxi took her back home, Lily stared out the window in silence. She felt a small ache in her chest, but she quickly brushed it off. “It had to be done,” she told herself. “Mekus has nothing to offer me. I need a better life.” She gently placed her hand on her stomach. “You’ll be fine,” she whispered. “You’ll grow up in a rich home. You’ll go to the best schools and have everything you need.” That was her focus now—securing a future for herself and the unborn child. Even if it meant telling a few lies.

The next morning, Lily continued with life as usual. She acted like nothing had changed. She called Dr. John and smiled through the phone. “Hi, baby,” she said sweetly. “Yes, I’m free this weekend. I’ll come over.” She dressed up, wore makeup, and laughed like nothing was happening. But deep inside, she was counting the days. Soon, her pregnancy would start to show, and she needed to be ready. “He will think the baby is his,” she said to herself while brushing her hair. “I just have to keep it a secret until after the wedding.”

Dr. John had no idea what was going on. He was happy and excited. He kept planning the wedding and showering Lily with gifts. He took her to meet his parents, and they loved her immediately. Everything was going perfectly, just as Lily had hoped. But she knew that one mistake could destroy everything. She avoided doctors and made sure nobody suspected anything. She also blocked Mekus on all social media platforms. She didn’t want him to contact her or find out about the baby. Her life now belonged to Dr. John and his wealthy world.

One evening, Lily stood in front of her bedroom mirror, wearing a white dress. Her stomach had not started showing yet, but she could feel changes in her body. “Soon, people will know,” she whispered. “But not now. I’ll wait until the wedding is over. I’ll protect this secret until the right time comes. No one must know about the pregnancy until after the wedding.” She picked up the pregnancy test stick again from her drawer, looked at it, and smiled faintly. “It’s a small price to pay for a better future,” she said to herself, and walked away.

The First Child Ep. 3

James woke up early on Monday morning. He had been thinking all night. Emily’s refusal to do a DNA test had left him restless. He could not focus at work, and every time he looked at the baby, the doubt grew stronger. By 9am, he drove to the hospital alone. He didn’t take the baby with him because he wanted to first ask some questions before deciding on the next step. When he arrived, he went to the reception and asked to speak with a doctor. A few minutes later, he was shown into a small office. The doctor, a middle-aged man with glasses, greeted him warmly. “Good morning, Mr. James. How can I help you today?” James sat down and leaned forward. “Doctor, I have an unusual question. Is it possible for two white parents to give birth to a black baby?” The doctor looked thoughtful. “It is possible, but it is very rare. In some cases, the child may have inherited certain genes from past generations. In other rare cases, it could be a medical condition affecting the skin.” James nodded slow...

Pregnant Before Wedding Day Ep. 4

Lily arrived at Dr. John’s house just before sunset. The streets were quiet, and the air was soft with the smell of the evening breeze. She carried a small bag in one hand and used the spare keys he had given her to unlock the door. Inside, the apartment felt warm and familiar. She walked to the kitchen without removing her shoes, already thinking of the meal she was about to prepare. It had to be perfect—his favorite food, made with care. She believed that tonight could change everything for her. She moved through the kitchen slowly, setting out the ingredients and humming softly. The sound of the knife against the cutting board filled the room. As she stirred the pot, steam curled into the air, carrying the rich smell of spices. She imagined the smile on Dr. John’s face when he walked in and saw her effort. The table was set neatly at the dining area, plates and glasses lined up as if they were expecting important guests. By the time she finished cooking, the apartment smelled like c...

The First Child Ep. 2

Emily is distraught. She was in her room with her baby. James’s words from the night before kept echoing in her head. "We must have a DNA test. I don’t want to raise another man’s child." Her husband had said. She had told herself over and over again that morning that she would not do it. No matter how much James insisted, she was not going to any hospital for a DNA test. She was tired, weak, and still recovering from childbirth. She also felt insulted that her own husband would accuse her of cheating. When James returned from work that evening, she was ready with her answer. “James,” she said as he entered the room, “I am not doing any DNA test. I am not going anywhere.” James stopped in the middle of the room. “What did you just say?” “You heard me. I am not following you to any hospital. I will not do it.” His eyes were fixed on her. “So you are hiding something. That explains it.” Emily frowned. “I am not hiding anything. I just will not subject myself to this insult.” Ja...
